Today we’re featuring a vair vair cool human being, the one and only Aaron Huffman, Art Director of my most fav newspaper on the planet, The Stranger

And if you haven’t already noticed, a trend amongst our adventurers seems to be emerging; quite a few of them claim they wouldn’t want to live without sushi. Perhaps The Adventure School will throw a sushi party for all of them someday? One can only dream…

What skill do you want to learn?

I’d like to learn to play the piano, but I doubt I ever will.

Food and drink you donʼt want to live without?

Sushi and margaritas.

What’s the scariest thing you can think of?

Bugs! I hate bugs.

What is your favourite party supply?

Wigs usually bring out the best in many a partygoer, although I usually prefer to stand back and watch from a safe distance.

Your favorite book of the moment?

The City & The City, by China Mieville, which I’m about half-way through right now.

Describe your dream party place.

Someplace with lots of nooks and crannies, different places to gather, things to look at and discuss (art and such). I’m sure that no matter how many choices there are, people would likely end up in the kitchen anyway. Also, it should be directly adjacent to a beach. And it it should have a hot tub.

What is the evil version of you like?

Much more self-indulgent. The evil me would buy even more guitars and drink a lot more expensive bourbon.

What gives you confidence?

New clothes. Is that shallow?

Name four essential elements of a good party.

Music, lots of people I know, some kind of alcohol I’ve never tried before, and an hour-long drunken conversation about how great [insert name of dead/retired rock band here] were.

What do you appreciate most about a party host?

A little effort in the food department. A great hors d’oeuvre, even just some good cheese, can make all the difference.

Favorite adventure supply?

The perfect bag. The smallest one I can get away with.

Describe the best party you ever attended.

This isn’t exactly a single party, but earlier this year we went down to Sayulita for a friend’s 40th birthday. The ten of us ate street food, sat on the beach, basked in the heat, and drank tequila and watery beer late into the night. All the elements of a great party, spread out over the better part of a week.

Hotel room or campsite?

I’d love to be able to say campsite, but I really am a hotel room kind of person. It doesn’t have to be luxurious, but I am partial to indoor plumbing.

Do you have a style icon?

David Bowie, but I’m not nearly brave enough to pull off any sort of Bowie-esque outfit.

Where is your next adventure destination?

Vienna, followed by Bruges and Zurich, in September!

If you could teach a class about anything in the world ever, what would you teach?

Making a French Dip sandwich. It’s the only thing I’ve perfected.

Your motto?

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

What is your spirit animal?

Anything that moves really slow and spends all of its time either eating, sleeping, or sitting in a tree.
