CRAWL SPACE BAZAAR: FUNDRAISER, BEST PARTY OF THE YEAR! Join us for glittered and feathered debauchery, drinks with Michael Darling and Gary Hill while viewing the newest works by gallery members!

cs

Last year’s event, hosted by Bill and Ruth True, Betsey Brock & Eric Fredericksen, and Jeffry Mitchell, met our fundraising goal of half of the annual operating expenses and program costs for Crawl Space Gallery. This year we’re helping Crawl Space Gallery towards expanding their programming, expanding their space, and establishing their own non-profit status. Last year we had fun. We wore white.

This year promises to be more phenomenal than last year. Because this year we are going from . . . WHITE TO BRIGHT!!!! Holla!

Party will be insanely fun, before you know it, a cocktail will be in your hand courtesy of a feather eye-lashed Shimmy Deluxe dancing girl. Also, Dee Jay Jack and Sam Rousso Sound System will be on the wheels of steel. Party time to the max! Join us for hors d’oeuvres from local gourmets including Boat Street Café, Trophy Cupcakes and Artemis, festooned servers (Brazilian Carnival meets Euro club kids), and a preview of this year’s exhibition of current works by Crawl Space member-artists. This zany, lively event helps to cover a significant portion of yearly rent, utilities, and programming costs that our member artists aren’t able to cover out-of-pocket.

The hosts this year are really fancy and they definitely will be in attendance. They are Michael Darling and Gary Hill. Michael, is the new modern and contemporary art curator at the SAM and Gary Hill is one of the first video artists ever. You should probably come to meet this Michael character if you haven’t already as he was an assistant curator at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art since 1998, where he co-organized the show Superflat with the artist Takashi Murakami in 2001. YAY! And he is only 38!

This past year has been an incredibly effective and inventive year for Crawl Space, challenging early- career artists with monthly exhibits, an international juried exhibition, a new intensive residency program, and building on a new strategic foundation to keep the gallery influential and valuable to the arts community for years to come. Now its time to celebrate and gear up for another great year.
