After what seemed like a million years of wanting to see it, I finally saw Gary Hustwit’s documentary feature, Helvetica yesterday at the Northwest Film Forum. And, it was totally hilarious. I loved all the typographical experts being so excited about their field, a field that affects everyone without most people noticing or caring. Yay for the unsung typographers! The guys from Hoefler & Frere-Jones totally reminded me of Aviva and myself. Their nearly telepathic shorthand way of expressing the zaniest ideas to each other pretty much sums up The Adventure School communication style. So, it’s nice to see that they are nerdy, expert AND totally pumped for life after nineteen years in business together; it’s like looking into a crystal ball and seeing our future. Long live sans serif fonts and long live Swiss design! Leave a Reply |
