Hi guys, I am in Miami. Just got here, so I still have lots of Seattle adventure news to share from this week. But make sure to stay tuned for next week’s all Miami edition of Cori’s Corner: The Week in Adventure (MIAMI). The most fun news is that Team Adventure is settling quite naturally into its new studio space. We threw a wee little open house for some former and future clients and other adventure supporters. Lindsay, Erin and Gao Gao did most of the work. They really wowed the guests (and me!) with their culinary creations and fantastic hospitality skillz.

We had our friends over at Cairo create a new run of adventure tees in new colors and new softnesses. These new tees are like baby cheeks compared to the alligator hide-like old models, that may be an exaggeration but these Cairo tees are as soft as rainbows.

You have to touch them to know. If you want one you can have one. Just email me: cori at theadventureschool dot com. And I will hook you up (for a fee, unless you are a celeb, like, Salma Hayek, in which case I would want you to wear one in Vogue or something so I could just lend it out).

Anyways, back to the party. The new classroom is really shaping up. Lindsay made rainbow cake and even our youngest Adventure Nuts had a fully excellent time.

The fun and adventure, never stop around here and as the little soiree was winding down, a perfect opportunity to shoot a music video turned up. The Adventure Studio became HQ to some scenes for the latest Sleepy Eyes of Death video shot by our favorite videographer and all around great guy, Patrick Richardson Wright and his friend and ours Kyle Johnson. All the remaining guests donned green choir robes then we pretended to be a cult. Then we had a dance party on film. All in a day’s work at The Adventure school.

If you would like to be invited to the next super secret Adventure Hour, hit us up for details . . . info at theadventureschool dot com. Also, I saw Iron Man 2 last night, I don’t think you should see it, it’s not very good. However, I do recommend you read Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage. Let me know how you enjoy it: cori at theadventureschool dot com.

Ch-ch-check it out!

WHERE: Crawl Space Gallery

WHEN: Saturday 25 July, 6-9pm

WHAT: Stockgap, an exhibition of video works and drawings by New York based artist Zach Rockhill

WHY: Because Crawl Space rocks our socks and will probably rocks yours too.

Rockhill describes his video sequences that works that explore “moments of psychological rupture” in renowned moments in cinema. Think Jack Nicholson’s super-freaky pronouncement, ”Heeeeeere’s Johnny!” Annette Bening slapping herself back to composure in American Beauty, and the Wicked Witch of the West completely losing it as melts away to nothing at the end of The Wizard of Oz. Of course, all this is just conjecture. The description doesn’t actually mention which films Rockhill’s work will be referencing.

All the more reason and go to see for yourself on Saturday night, right? Right? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

The exhibition looks promising– I imagine it will be edgy. Hip. Theoretical. Post-post-modern. As the French would say, hyper cool.

The incomparable Morgane Le Gall threw a wicked bash to bid adieu to her number two favorite city, Seattle. A good time was had by all, complete with a DIY sponsorship wall. Many esteemed guests attended, a few of which are pictured below.

On November 17, 2007 influential art collectors, curators, artists and art celebrities gathered together for a night of sequined and feathered debauchery including art, food, drinks and dancing to benefit Crawl Space Gallery. DJs Sam Rousso Soundsystem and DJ Glitterpants and played enthusiastic tunes as Monika MoSure applied psychedelic glam warrior face paint to all those interested. Attendees sipped on 15 years worth of exquisite wines from a private wine cellar and documented their looks in a photo booth constructed by Crawl Space Gallery Director, Anne Mathern. The girls of Shimmy Deluxe served ‘cockatiels’ and Hors d’Å“uvres to such Seattle notables as Jim Harris, Greg Lundgren, and John Behnke. This fundraiser was hosted by Seattle Art Museum Jon and Mary Shirley Curator of Modern and Contemporary art Michael Darling, internationally recognized video art pioneer Gary Hill, and The Crawl Space Booster Club Kids Jim and Molly O’Donnell, Betsey Brock, Eric Frederickson and Greg Kucera. gca-michaela-head-shot.jpgSeptember 22 and September 23, 2007, The Adventure School took to the open road to create the Explorers Photo Shoot for famed international stock image company, Getty Images. The shoot captured pretty young things exploring historical landmarks. We styled fifteen different photographs of young women exploring nature in modern urban garb as the stylist and production coordinator to assist conceptual photographer Anne Mathern as she shot with a medium format camera, two portable flashes and a reflector. The images were captured on the California coast off of the Redwood Highway, in Redwood National Park, a hotel in Klamath Falls and Lava Beds National Park.gca-anne-in-the-cave.jpggca-clothes-rack-at-beach.jpg
