Hey Hey!
Guess what time it is? Time for another Adventure School Proust Questionnaire! Yaaaaay!
This week we’re featuring our friend Buster, creator of the super sweet iPhone application Locavore and author of a really classy blog called Enjoymentland.  This week, we caught up with Buster between sips of espresso and fits of genius to ask him a few questions about some of the most pressing issues of our time.

If you ever changed your name, what would you call yourself?
It turns out I’ve already changed my name twice (Erik Benson -> Buster McLeod -> Buster Benson).  But if I was to change my name a third time, it would be to Maximiliano Bombastus von Millionaire Billionaire Benson.

What is the food or drink you don’t want to live without?
Gelato with hot espresso poured over it and a sprinkling of pizza.

Who’s your favorite adventurer: Indiana Jones or Luke Skywalker?
Indiana: he’s not as tortured.

Dance party or Cocktail party?
The latter former, and the former later!

Do you have any life goals?
Oh geez.  I started a company that was all about making big life goals (43things.com).  My current big picture life goals are to start a family with my amazing wife, create the frugalest, ultra-minimalist, tech-startup in history, and to make Seattle a better place to live, work, and have fun.

What are the four essential elements of good party?
An empty milk bottle, mint and chip ice cream, a lazy polar bear, and a labyrinth.

What is your favorite finger food?
I have to answer this one seriously: sushi! And anything that could be within fingers’ reach of sushi.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a genetic biologist that spliced pet genes together into new amazing combinations.  Like the squid/kitten/butterfly, and the monkey/fox/scorpion.  It was going to be called Invent-A-Pet.  Hey, maybe it still is.  Hurry up, genetics!

What’s the moment of your day that you always consider as an adventure?
Waking up next to Kellianne, going to sleep next to Kellianne.  Awwwwwwww!

What gives you confidence?
I have a power animal. He’s a galloping polar bear that runs right behind me pushing me forward.  My power image is kayaking deftly through rapids.  I also have an ideal scene that I look at when I close my eyes… somewhere between a castle and a hotel and a warehouse and a party and a home, surrounded by amazing friends and creative geniuses.  And alcohol sometimes.

What is the scariest thing you can think of?
The scariest thing I can think of is being temporarily possessed by fear and betraying the people I love.  And then being unparalyzed by that fear and realizing what I had done, and that it was irreversible.

What’s your most common reoccurring dream?
Probably the one where I’m chewing bubble gum and I’m trying to spit the gum out but it keeps getting bigger and bigger in my mouth and no matter how much bubble gum I stealthily stash in planters and under the table while nobody’s looking, I can’t get it all out and I can’t breathe very well.

What’s the one thing you would change about yourself if you could?
I guess I would change the fact that I can’t read minds.  Even not being able to read micro-facial-expressions on the sly while not appearing creepy would be a good thing to change about myself.

What aspect of your personality are you very proud of?
I like that I’m really lucky.  Except in casinos.

What is your favorite adventure supply?
A taxi that can go anywhere.

What is your spirit animal?
A whale/polar bear/fox that lives at the bottom of the ocean and the end of the universe, and stirs a big pot of rainbow sherbet when I’m not in need of spirit-helping.

Your motto?
I have had several: In it to win it, higher highs and lower lows, double down, no problem, etc.  Right now my motto is a little more conservative, due to my current strategies.  It is: FRUGALITY TO THE MAX + The Extragood Life!
