I first met Tina Frey when she began selling a selection of her jewelry in a boutique in San Francisco called Nida. One is instantly drawn to her creations by their candied hues and polished surfaces, and I’d find myself hovering over each piece in the case, fantasizing about what it would be like to slip the emerald bangles over my wrist or feel the weight of the hand sculpted, beaded necklaces around my collar. You can’t help but to touch the resin baubles, understanding their shape, running your fingers over their surfaces. Tina takes delicate care in hand-forming and hand-polishing each piece, and leaves enough time for herself to party it up in Swedish castles and roam Southeast Asia. Read on for more colorful tidbits about her, and take a peek at her Macy Necklace in The Adventure Store!

I came, I saw, I met lots of people! I knew a highlight was going to be watching the Aqualilies! I also met some exceptionally nice people at Hitched. For one, there was a very cute area called the “Grooms Lounge,” where men could eat snacks, get drinks, get a Rudy’s Barbershop haircut or learn how to tie a bow tie! Dress Launderette provided the step by step teaching lessons, as well as some absolutely gorgeous bow ties to work with! (This was probably my partner in crime‘s most favorite place to hang.) Ban.do had the SWEETEST tent towards the entrance, lined with pink ribbon, mylar, streamers and confetti systems…And of course, their hair pieces and pins were ooohed and ahhhed like candy! Ladies of Fiore Beauty kept busy, dishing out make-up advice & applying it on to some beauties. The cutie behind Mae Mae Paperie, Megan Gonzalez, was a sweet as her company’s aesthetic! And of course, Smilebooth was an overall crowd favorite! I am keeping my eyes peeled because I can’t wait to see how those pictures turned out! Overall, it was a great experience! My favorite theme was utilized, I can’t really complain about being around so many creative people, and people thought I was a “bride to be”! Here are some of the photos I took… Happy Friday! Enjoy! MANVENTURE This weekend was especially manly.
Molvar and Nora came to visit. They are cool.
we partied
and then they left for Bellingham.
That’s when the real MANVENTURE began.
Four of us tough dudes met in the grocery store parking lot. We drove to a secret place in the mountains and with a flick of the wrist we were sporting
and everything was magical and fun.
Tennis, like shooting skeet, is fun and manly. SO IS TYPING IN ALL CAPS. MANVENTURE is for women too.
NEXT WEEK ON MANVENTURE: ROBOCOP FANFICTION
Whenever finger lickin’ good ribs are involved, I find that it’s really easy to forget which part of the country you’re in. Inspired after observing Cori and Aviva all summer, the czarinas of party planning, I decided to throw one myself to put everything I’ve learned from these two into practice. The evening was a success; it had all the makings of a classic summer barbecue and then some: ribs, watermelon, ice cream, booze, ambient lighting, and magic. The food tasted delectable, but it was really the guests that made the night a great success. If I’ve learned anything thus far, it’s this: Having friends of all ages makes life way more fun. Yes, some of my peers do consider it strange that I have friends who were alive during the Cuban Missile Crisis or there to witness the rise and fall of Milli Vanilli, but if you stay strictly within your generational bracket, you’re totally missing out. I’m telling you, inter-generational is the way to go. Prosecco, magic shows, teddy bear sunflowers, and Molly Moon’s ice cream. These are also other indisputable ways to go. All resulting from having friends of all ages, of course.
Wait! Wait! Hold on a second, I forgot something! In the post about Rose’s Street Fair Party I forgot to mention one of the loveliest touches at the party. Rose set up a Wishing Tree to which guests affixed their wishes for everyone to see. Here are some photos by Gao Gao of the Wishing Tree and the Zucchini Racers! Vroom.
We were proud to plan the 2009 Henry Art Gallery benefit, See Listen Taste Feel! We worked with a group of the most amazing people at The Henry and elsewhere, including Jeppe Hein, the Berlin-based visionary behind the event, to transform a light industrial space in South Lake Union into party central. The party was as delicious as it was beautiful, featuring incredible food by Johnathan Sundstrom from Lark and glam desserts from Bakery Nouveau’s chef/owner William Leaman, Champion De Monde de la Boulangerie. Jeppe Hein created a vision complete with burning barrels in the parking lot to 30 secret ping-pong tables and a large site specific installation entitled 360º Illusion to enchant all who wandered in from Chihuly to SHAG members (Student / Henry Advisory Group). Entertainment was a beautiful chaos including composer Zeke Keeble and bassist Evan Florey-Barnes, Orkestar Zirconium Photos by Jenny Jimenez. | |
