I grew up dancing my whole life which is why I have a total appreciation for dancers. Being a visually stimulated person, I am inspired by whimsical photography and if they have dancers in them, even better! Last week, I stumbled upon two extremely inspiring photographers, Cade Martin & Jordan Matter. These photos will blow your mind!

Meet Jenny Jiménez, sweetheart of The Adventure School and one helluva photographer. The secret ingredients that give Jenny’s photos that extra oomph is a sense of humor and talent for capturing real, unconventional moments rather than canned, stage-y poses.

If you like Jenny’s work as much as we do, swing by Jenny’s show, Show Me Your TIFFS, this Thursday featuring some clever specialty cocktails for those of us with the right initials: Double D (i.e. Dorcas Doolittle), Double J (i.e. Jenny Jiménez!), and Double You (i.e. Barbie Babbit or MitcheLL, KnoxviLLe.) What gives you confidence?
whiskey + ginger

Name four essential elements of a good party.
Good music, good people, good food, and a good photographer.

What do you appreciate most about a party host?
They don’t have to take their clothes off to have a good time. Waittaminnute… scratch that.

Favorite adventure supply?
My 35mm 1.4

Describe the best party you ever attended.
My wedding. Everyone I cared about was in one room, dancing their asses off.

Hotel room or campsite?
Cabin

Do you have a style icon?
Depending on the day, either Jenny Lewis or the Brawny man.

Where is your next adventure destination?
Skylark Cafe, October 8th!

If you could teach a class about anything in the world ever, what would you teach?
How to design a public bathroom. I’ve seen too many where the coat hanger is directly above the sanitary waste disposal. C’mon, people!

INTERNATIONAL Adventurer Profile- Mike Lewis

Every time a new International Adventurer Profile comes down the pipes, I start feeling real itchy to get up and go have an international adventure of my own. But no one has inspired me more than Mike Lewis, the most adventure-y adventurer we’ve heard from yet. This guy is going EVERYWHERE and seeing it ALL. On a motorcycle. I’m in love with his lack of fear in the face of living large. Hopefully you’ll feel equally buoyed after you read Mike’s dispatch. But what really drives the point home are Mike’s magnificent photos. If you don’t feel some wanderlust after looking at these, I think you might be travel asexual.

My name is Mike Lewis. In 2008 I sold my home, office, business, and virtually everything else I owned so I could travel around the world on my motorcycle.

At this writing, I am in Medellin, Colombia, and happily confess that the trip, so far, has exceeded all expectations. I made my decision back in April 2007. Without any major life crises or traumas to act as impetus, I simply came to the conclusion that something had to change. I had created a good life in Seattle and had achieved some success, but things felt flat.

I was comfortable, but bored by life.

So, for the next 4-1/2 years I will experience the highs and lows of a more challenging life. Challenged not by paying my monthly bills on time, or making next quarter’s projections, but how I will handle adversity. I am 45-years old and want to see what I am capable of. To see what kind of a man I have become.

I wanted to get out of my office and become a global citizen. I want to experience different people and their cultures, eat their food, breath their air, and live were they live. I have no idea what tomorrow will bring, and that’s perfectly fine by me.

I now feel alive and inspired by life.

Studio Six in Fremont!

Venerable photographer of nature, travel, fashion and life, Philip Kramer, will be holding a show for your viewing pleasure here in Seattle, tomorrow. If you attend, Team Adventure, will surely be there to share a toast with you. So, come to Fremont Place Books, this Friday, March 6th from 6p.m. to 9ish.

Technically, it is a part of the Fremont First Friday Art Walk. Also, technically, it is very close to PCC, from whose food collection you can taste many samples. The work is a selection of medium format photographs from Europe with a smattering of some very recent images from the Pacific Northwest (specifically middle-of-nowhere Oregon). Also, important to note, Friend of Adventure, Joana Chavez developed the concept for FPB participating in the art walk and she has a show there next month.
