We are so excited about our new store launch and so is the inimitable Seattle Metropolitan Magazine Style Editor and Editor-in-Chief at Seattle Metropolitan Bride and Groom Magazine, Laura Cassidy! She sat down for a chat with the store’s buyer, Erin Gainey and The Adventure School Founding Partner Aviva Palmer. See the article on the fabulous Wear What When. Homegirl’s got street cred and we are thrilled to count her as a fellow fashion adventurer. Feast your eyes on this glorious screenshot but make sure to mosey over and catch the real thing. If you’re lucky Aviva will tell you fashion/party/adventure lifestyle tips for all your Trans-Siberian Needs in the comments section. no comments
Happy Valentine’s Day! For any of you who don’t actually know me, I am completely enamored by Andy & Kate Spade. I think they are absolutely brilliant! Even though they don’t actually own Kate Spade anymore, I still love the company! Here is a little Kinga Burza film to Soko‘s, “I Will Never Love You More.” Enjoy! Happy Valentine’s Day! One of our favorite photographers of those pledging their everlasting love is one Mr. James Moes. Father and Husband, this man is a lover of kids, people, weddings, dancing, cool glasses and more! Then you should definitely check out his website to see tons of beautiful pictures of mostly young lovers and lovey feelsations. . . We love you! *photo by Sean Flanigan 2. Valentine’s day is coming! Some of the best presents are the ones that are handmade…or handmade by someone else! Feel inspired to craft! Enjoy! Last week I posted about my love for mid century modern lattice patterns…Well, when I first moved to Seattle, this is one of the very very first things I decided to do, to turn my place into a home. A wee bit tedious but SO VERY WORTH IT! First, I painted the door white. I measured out where the lines would need to be and taped the whole entire door with strips of tape. Then, I took an exacto knife and cut out the pieces of tape that weren’t necessary. A couple coats of yellow paint on top. Wait for the paint to dry…Take off the tape & PRESTO! Enjoy!
I started the beginning of last week in Arizona, where temperatures reached what felt like ALL TIME LOWS! It was COLD people! COLD! Then, I popped back up to Seattle, where I was faced with the inevitable low temps. But was still, I was not truly prepared for my body being stiff and frozen. This brings us to today’s blog post. I have this LOVE for very awesome, very eclectic blankets. Maybe you need one to keep warm with or maybe you will discover one to add to this years wish list. Either way, I hope you find these inspiring! Enjoy! 1. Pendleton $198-319/ 2. Dennis Basson (Faux Fur) $69.96 (on sale) /3. Antique Quilts Selected by Hay $181/ 4. Plus 9 by Hay $290/5. Hey party people, there’s a guy you may have seen from your vantage point on a crowded dance floor, but then maybe some sweat got in your eyes because your feet weren’t stopping for anything and he was gone in a flash of a disco ball. It was probably DJ Darwin of Mad Rad fame. A long time favorite DJ of us here at The Adventure School, we’ve seen him really bring the dance magic to otherwise snoozy Seattle crowds . . . be on the look out for DJ Darwin to be motivating you far and wide for the rest of 2011. I heard (on the internet from The Stranger’s blog) that they just announced a ferosh (is it okay to say ferosh? I never have before and I just wanna try it out) Sasquatch line-up tonight aka look for Darwin at the Gorge. We asked him the usual questions. The man is a party survivalist, so gather round this here digital campfire and get to learnin’.
Here’s his official bio:
Moving to Seattle from Buffalo NY in 2001, Darwin immersed himself in the underground raves that were thrown every weekend at Club FX & NAF Studios. Fast forward four years, dj assisting on KEXP’s electronic music show Expansions, hundreds of drum & bass gigs later, he found his calling. A chance meeting with Terry Radjaw in 2006 and the forming of local Seattle group Mad Rad with Buffalo Madonna & P Smoov, enabled Darwin to sharpen his skills even more. In a present day dj set, your likely going to hear everything from 90′s Acid House to Tribal Guarachero from Monterrey Mexico to Kwaito from South Africa.

note #2: Take a second to revisit number 14.
I came, I saw, I met lots of people! I knew a highlight was going to be watching the Aqualilies! I also met some exceptionally nice people at Hitched. For one, there was a very cute area called the “Grooms Lounge,” where men could eat snacks, get drinks, get a Rudy’s Barbershop haircut or learn how to tie a bow tie! Dress Launderette provided the step by step teaching lessons, as well as some absolutely gorgeous bow ties to work with! (This was probably my partner in crime‘s most favorite place to hang.) Ban.do had the SWEETEST tent towards the entrance, lined with pink ribbon, mylar, streamers and confetti systems…And of course, their hair pieces and pins were ooohed and ahhhed like candy! Ladies of Fiore Beauty kept busy, dishing out make-up advice & applying it on to some beauties. The cutie behind Mae Mae Paperie, Megan Gonzalez, was a sweet as her company’s aesthetic! And of course, Smilebooth was an overall crowd favorite! I am keeping my eyes peeled because I can’t wait to see how those pictures turned out! Overall, it was a great experience! My favorite theme was utilized, I can’t really complain about being around so many creative people, and people thought I was a “bride to be”! Here are some of the photos I took… Happy Friday! Enjoy! This stuff is everywhere! Maybe I’m extra into it these days, because I found my DREAM white iron lattice headboard/wall partition, while browsing RED Modern Furniture in Phoenix! On a side note…There’s also a section in RED called MINT Vintage Clothing, which is operated by the wife of this husband and wife duo. It may be small but it is 100% AMAZING! Now, I’ve created a small gathering of an assortment of all things mid century lattice pattern! If you’re interested in achieving that mid century look, you can actually purchase these blocks through A-1 Block. This has Palm Springs & Trina Turk written ALL OVER IT! Enjoy! Via Trina Turk, thelennoxx, moderndesigninterior, casasugar & Becolorful HAPPY FEBRUARY!!!!!!!!! To kick off this month, I’d like to share my LOVE for sequin pants! I’ve been wanting a pair for quite some time! Maybe you have too? Enjoy.
